Jonathan Moffett

Jonathan has an extensive public law practice, with an emphasis on judicial review and statutory appeals, and he has particular expertise in the interface between public law and human rights. Within the public law sphere, Jonathan is recognised as a leading junior in education law; he also has a great deal of experience in local government law and in regulatory law, where has been instructed by bodies such as the Financial Services Authority, the Independent Television Commission and the Financial Ombudsman. As a member of the Attorney-General’s Panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown, Jonathan is regularly instructed to represent central government departments on public law matters ranging from prisons to immigration.
Jonathan also practises across the full range of employment law. He acts for Applicants and Respondents and he frequently deals with claims for unfair dismissal, breach of contract, discrimination and equal pay. Jonathan is particularly familiar with employment disputes arising in the public sector and in the health sector and he often represents NHS Trusts and the Department of Health in such matters.
Jonathan also acts in commercial matters, especially where public law issues arise, and in matters involving planning and environmental law, particularly at High Court level.
