Martin George is the Associate Professor of Property Law and Senior Tutor at the University of Leicester Law School. He has significant expertise in property law, and the law of trusts, as well as in related areas such as housing and human rights law, and landlord/tenant litigation. He has published widely on these subjects, and is the co-author, with Emeritus Professor Mark Thompson, of Modern Land Law (6th edn 2017, Oxford University Press), one of the country’s leading land law texts.
After studying at the Universities of Leicester and Nottingham, Martin was a College Lecturer at Hertford College, Oxford before taking up the Lectureship in Land Law at the University of Birmingham from 2009 – 2014. At Leicester, Martin is regularly voted Lecturer of the Year by his students (2015, 2016, 2018). In November 2017, Martin was elected as an Academic Fellow of the Inner Temple for a three-year term. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
