Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018
Yesterday (19 December 2018) saw the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act complete its passage through Parliament. It is expected to come into force in March 2019.
The Act updates ss.8 and 10, Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 so that a residential landlord must ensure that property is fit for human habitation when let and is kept in such condition during the tenancy. It is expected to be in force in March 2019 (for tenancies after that date) and will apply to all tenancies (whenever granted) from March 2020.
