Max Shephard acts for the NMC in the case of a nurse who accidentally gave an overdose to a care home resident

Max Shephard acted for the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the case of Mariana Birsasteanu. The allegations included the registrant administering oxycodone to a resident which was not prescribed this drug and by doing so caused and/or contributed to that resident’s death. These charges, amongst others also relating to medication errors, were found proved by the NMC’s fitness to practise committee resulting in strike off from the register.
