Tanveer Qureshi instructed in Health and Safety Sentencing hearing
Tanveer Qureshi was instructed at the sentence hearing by Mike Appleby of Fisher Scoggins Water. H&S sentences are primarily financial and usually based on a company’s annual turnover and their level of culpability and the harm caused. Sentencing exercises can be complex and with potential fines running into well over £10M it is vital that corporates are properly defended by expert counsel. Notwithstanding HSE’s submissions that this company’s liability was aggravated by the falsification of documents, culpability was limited and this was reflected in the fine. To mitigate the effect of the fine, Tanveer was able to persuade the court that it should be paid over 4 years
