Legal 500

Our barristers have considerable expertise in a variety of disciplinary proceedings, enquiries and appeals, appearing against and for a range of tribunals and professional bodies. Over the last year, this has included police and sports tribunals, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, the Solicitor’s Disciplinary Tribunal and Teaching Tribunal.

We are involved in highly complex, cutting edge and often highly confidential and sensitive matters. This includes three separate investigations for the Serious Fraud Office currently ongoing and four of our barristers working in-house at the Financial Conduct Authority. We are also working on the high profile Dame Linda Dobbs Review, considering whether issues relating to HBOS Reading were investigated and appropriately reported to authorities following Lloyd Banking Group’s acquisition of HBOS.

Notably, Richard Price QC is counsel of choice for regulatory and disciplinary matters for the Conservative Party Board. He also sits as Legal Assessor to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and the General Optical Council.

In the sports sector, we are increasingly involved in disciplinary proceedings relating to high-profile anti-doping and misconduct issues.  Max Shepherd was recently appointed to the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s Anti-Doping Committee where he is involved in drafting disciplinary regulations and Rupert Beloff is a recognised sports expert.
