Practice Summary

Kaykay joined 4-5 in May 2023 and has a busy practice as part of chambers’ Housing and Property team. He accepts instructions at all levels and has a particular interest in: Housing disrepair, residential possession claims, injunctive relief, civil contempt, homelessness and proceedings under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.

Before his call to the Bar, Kaykay worked in the property finance department of a well-established firm of solicitors specialising in property, where he gained experience in commercial property transactions and housing development.

Outside of his work, Kaykay is an avid fan of Chelsea Football Club. He also has a keen interest in philosophy and history, having graduated with a First in the subject from King’s College London.

London Borough of Lewisham v Campbell (2025)

Successfully represented the London Borough of Lewisham in contempt proceedings following the breach of an injunction by the Defendant which was obtained under the Ant-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

 

Anandan v Trabadelo (2024)

Successfully defended a claim for possession under section 21 Housing Act 1988, where the central issue involved the interpretation of the of the Court of Appeal authority, Trecarrell House v Rouncefield [2020] EWCA 760 on the service of gas safety certificates the interpretation Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998.

Birmingham City Council v Hume (2024)

Successfully represented Birmingham City Council in committal proceedings following the breach of an injunction by the Defendant which was obtained under the Ant-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.

 

Terry Constantine v Birmingham City Council (2023)

Successfully defended Birmingham City Council in a housing disrepair claim made under sections 9A-11 Landlord and Tenant Act 1985.

O’Farrell v Hodges (2023)

Successfully represented the Claimants in residential possession proceedings, obtaining a money judgment for rent arrears over £193,000.
