Lauren Fullerton

Practice Summary

Lauren was called to the Bar of Northern Ireland in 2008, where she practised for 12 years, to the Bar of Ireland in 2012, and to the Bar of England and Wales (Gray’s Inn) in 2013. She is also a qualified, non-practising solicitor.

With over 15 years’ experience in Property and Private Client law, Lauren has extensive expertise in land disputes, housing, landlord and tenant matters, and contentious probate. She has a well-established litigation and advisory practice, regularly advising and representing clients in complex, high-value and multi-generational family wealth disputes. Her work includes disputes concerning wills, trusts and estate administration, claims involving undue influence and lack of testamentary capacity, disputes regarding the duties of executors and trustees, and applications under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

Lauren’s practice has further expanded to include Education, Adult Social Care, and Regulatory matters. She regularly accepts instructions from regulated entities, public bodies and educational institutions, providing both advocacy and advisory support. Her work in these areas includes judicial review proceedings relating to school exclusions, SEND disputes, challenges to admissions decisions and policies, disciplinary matters, safeguarding and equality issues in education, as well as matters concerning adult social care duties, community care provision, and associated public law and regulatory challenges. She appears in a wide range of courts and tribunals, representing clients in complex and sensitive matters.

Lauren previously held the role of Assistant Professor in Legal Practice at the University of Northumbria and is an Affiliate Lecturer in the Department of Land Economy at the University of Cambridge. She also serves as an External Examiner for Drafting and Professional Ethics with the Bar Standards Board’s on their Barrister Training Courses.

A full member of STEP (TEP), Lauren combines practical advocacy experience with academic insight. She is particularly known for her ability to advise on multi-layered legal issues affecting families, estates, vulnerable individuals, and educational institutions, often at the intersection of private client, public law, and regulatory frameworks.
