Practice Summary

Salmaan has been a mediator for as long as he has been a barrister. His background, which includes many years working within the tax department of PwC as well as time spent working at international law firms (namely the property litigation team of Gowling WLG and the commercial litigation division of Rajah & Tann), has provided him with an understanding of the practical difficulties facing clients who are locked in litigation.

Salmaan complements this practical experience with astute legal knowledge, and his various professional memberships (including that of the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Association of Tax Technicans, and the Institute of Residential Property Management – to name but a few) make him particularly well placed to mediate a wide range of disputes.

Salmaan’s growing mediation experience already encompasses disputes in relation to tax avoidance schemes, construction and building work, and even catastrophic personal injuries.

Salmaan has extensive experience of acting as counsel in mediation, and is highly sought after owing to his ability to find a pragmatic solution to seemingly intractable problems. He was recently involved in a complex property mediation involving the National Trust; and is frequently instructed by the Office of the Public Guardian to resolve disputes, through the forum of roundtable meetings, concerning the financial affairs of those who lack capacity. Salmaan is therefore well-versed in the tactics parties often employ, and uses this knowledge to help broker a settlement when acting as a mediator.
