R (London Borough of Hounslow) v Do & Co Event and Airline Catering Limited
On 25 June 2025, Westminster Magistrates’ Court accepted guilty pleas from Do & Co Event and Airline Catering Limited (the Defendant) for breaches of health, safety, and welfare at work regulations - specifically for failing to provide and maintain safe systems of work at the site, which resulted in a fatal accident.
This case serves as a timely reminder to employers of the importance of taking their workplace health and safety duties seriously. It was, above all, a very sad case for all those affected by the loss of the worker involved.
Westminster Magistrates’ Court assessed culpability at the highest end and fined Do & Co Event and Airline Catering Limited a record £2.4 million, giving full credit to the defendant for having pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity. It also awarded over £47,000 in legal costs.
Jimmy Ogunshakin (prosecuting) acted for the London Borough of Hounslow
