Jacqueline Perry KC secures over £340k in damages in fatal medical negligence case

At the recent multi-track trial heard over several days before His Honour Judge Murch, the Defendant, Professor Gorog a Cardiac Consultant, was found to have been negligent in her diagnosis and consequent treatment of the Claimant’s wife when she was advised to undergo an angiogram investigation, during the course of which she suffered dissection of the radial artery and died as a consequence.

Professor Gorog was also found to have failed to provide such required information to her patient as to alternative and non-invasive treatments so that the deceased had not been able to give informed consent for the angiogram procedure in breach of the requirements as set down by the Supreme Court in Montgomery v Lanarkshire Health Authority 2015 UKSC 11.
