Wolverhampton City Council v London Gypsies and Travellers

The Supreme Court has held that the Court does have power to grant ‘newcomer’ injunctions affecting Gypsies and Travellers.

The judgment can be found here.

Such ‘newcomer’ injunctions are those granted without prior notice against persons who cannot be known at the time the order is made. They make it unlawful for new persons, who were not party to the injunction proceedings, to camp on local authority land without permission. They potentially apply to anyone in the world.
