SMCR reform: proposals for change in challenging times

Nikesh Pandit and pupil barrister Akash Gohil publish article for The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales examining the Government’s proposed review of the Financial Conduct Authority and Bank of England’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime. The article submits that, while smaller start-up fintech firms may benefit from a nimbler regime, recent bank failures add particular sensitivity to any reforms and the need to carefully balance enhanced agility and maintaining high regulatory standards.
