Kevin Brown examines growing gaps in legal aid provision

Kevin Brown, Barrister at 4–5 Gray’s Inn Square, has written an article examining the LexisNexis Legal Aid Deserts Report 2026, which highlights growing gaps in legal aid provision across England and Wales.

The report reveals an increase in the number of people living in areas with limited access to legal aid, with housing identified as a particular area of concern.

Kevin considers the key findings of the report, including the challenges facing those seeking legal aid across housing, family, crime, immigration and employment, as well as the continuing pressures faced by legal aid providers and barristers undertaking this work.
