Practice Summary

Tessa-Jade is an experienced barrister with a broad practice spanning Commercial, Chancery and International Private Law. She has a particular expertise in advising international clients on cross-border disputes, jurisdictional clauses and the enforcement of judgments.

Complementing her international practice, she has extensive experience of litigation in England and Wales, regularly acting for corporate clients in complex disputes. Prior to pupillage, Tessa-Jade practised as a County Court advocate, appearing in a wide range of civil litigation disputes, including interlocutory application hearings and small claims trials.

Tessa-Jade is particularly adept at working closely with international in-house legal teams, providing advice and drafting in both contentious and non-contentious matters. Clients value her commercial acumen, adaptability under tight deadlines and precise legal advice.  

Tessa-Jade is available to deliver in-house training and is particularly skilled at providing training to non-legal teams on complex subjects. She prides herself on combining her legal expertise with a client-centred approach to deliver tangible results.

She is Direct Access qualified and can accept instructions with a short turnaround.

Outside of work, Tessa-Jade enjoys learning Dutch, cooking and taking long walks with her Tibetan terrier, Otto.

Tessa-Jade has experience in both contentious and non-contentious matters, acting for Claimants and Defendants in high-value and complex disputes. She is regularly instructed by large corporations and global brands, providing strategic legal advice and representation at all stages of litigation.

She has a strong advisory and drafting practice, offering pragmatic and commercially focused guidance on complex legal issues. She is particularly skilled in assessing litigation prospects and advising clients through all stages of the litigation.

Tessa-Jade is frequently instructed to advise and assist with:

  • Cross-border disputes and jurisdictional challenges

  • English law governed agreements

  • Drafting and redrafting (international) commercial contracts

  • Litigation risk assessment and strategy

Her ability to work seamlessly with in-house legal teams and international counsel ensures that clients receive clear and commercially astute legal advice.

Tessa-Jade accepts instructions as counsel in both domestic and international arbitration. Her practice is underpinned by extensive experience in commercial disputes in England and Wales, complemented by her international practice whilst working for a Dutch law firm in Amsterdam.
